Speaker 5 (00:01:17) - I told Michael I wasn't drinking tonight. I'm just having a beer. That's, it's, isn't that like a Wisconsin scene? The most Wisconsin thing ever.
Speaker 1 (00:01:24) - I'm having a California Sauvignon Blanc. I feel very fancy in my pla Last one, if you could see, it's all bent. Cause uh, it's all
Speaker 3 (00:01:34) - You
Speaker 1 (00:01:34) - Got, you got put in the, uh, dishwasher. But you could have this around the campfire. True over the fire pit. And you don't have to worry about it breaking. It just might melt.
Speaker 3 (00:01:43) - Pinky out.
Speaker 4 (00:01:44) - Those, uh, uh, like Yeti cups, the Yeti wine glasses. I actually ordered a whole bunch of them back when I was in the other studio and gave away his gifts or your studio gifts. And there were, but there were the wine ones to keep your wine cool and everything else, but you could keep 'em at the campfire. You could take 'em camping with you and everything else. They had a little sippy cup top on it and everything. You take it off and keep it on. Whatever. It was great. People loved them. They gave 'em the, uh, the coffee cups or that and they, most of 'em took the wine tumblers.
Speaker 3 (00:02:13) - .
Speaker 1 (00:02:15) - Yeah, of
Speaker 3 (00:02:15) - Course. So . So did you
Speaker 5 (00:02:20) - Give that to everyone or there? Was there a certain
Speaker 3 (00:02:23) - Certain level at the time? It was a 1200 at 12 order at that time. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:02:30) - That would explain why we didn't get one. Dan. Nice.
Speaker 3 (00:02:33) - Yeah. Well, ,
Speaker 4 (00:02:35) - Where's my Yeti?
Speaker 1 (00:02:37) - I just got this photo. Happy hour T-shirt You did? Which wait, I bought these. Yeah, you
Speaker 3 (00:02:42) - Did. Hey, hey. Oh, there
Speaker 1 (00:02:44) - You go. I'm give, I'm gonna give some away. Okay. Is I got a box full of 'em. Here's what we're gonna do. Place an order. Place an order in mo contest, contested www.molightorgomolight.com. Either one works by the way. And just in the order notes, put photo Happy hour or Happy hour or that stupid podcast or whatever you want. Whoa. I'll throw a t-shirt in your box. Tell me what size and, and it's wild supplies last. We've got a supply. So cool. I, I want get rid of. I'll you. What
Speaker 4 (00:03:15) - Was that? Texas school. So free t-shirt. We, we got there. And for those that have been to Texas school before, you know that Sunday everyone's kind of trying to pile in and their registration is open and the instructors are trying to get to the room and get the room set up. And, um, and we still have a meeting that afternoon. And then of course, teaching starts Sunday night. Well, some of us are still flying in on Sunday. And some of us, our rooms are at the main hotel . They're at, you know, one down the road and a fur piece. So I got there Oh boy. And, uh, found my assistant, my Wrangler, and she's like, well, I can run over there. Right now. We're bringing our equipment, our three reflectors. .
Speaker 4 (00:03:59) - Yeah. Anyway, um, over to the classroom and now, so I'll hop in, I'll give you a ride over there. We'll bring all your, your gear and, cause I'm bringing all the mo light stuff and we'll, we'll go set up. So we get to the other hotel, we'll walk in and stinks to high heaven. And they're like, what the heck? And I kind of looking around a little bit thinking, am I smell? Is am I? Yeah. What the hell? But do you And notice there's all kinds of like melted ceiling tile on the tables. And there's a great big pile, like the roof, the ceiling leaked above our classroom. It's in a, it's up below hotel rooms in another hotel suite area. And it stuck to high heaven. I mean, it must have been like a toilet over a floor or something. Oh no. And the whole floor was wet.
Speaker 4 (00:04:46) - And my sister had looked at each other like, we can't have glass in here. And, uh, and the manager is when they opened the door for us. And she's like, uh, yeah, we'll we'll get some carpet cleaners in here right away. We'll be ready for tomorrow morning. I said, tomorrow morning. So we got class tonight. She said, what? I said, yeah, a couple hours. So we kind of like, put everything back in the vehicle. Went back to the main place, went to the registration room, and I was trying to get across the room to talk to Don, the director of Technic school. And suddenly from behind the registration table, Kim goes, Carl, Carl Keeler, I gotta take a picture with you. And I thought, for what? ? She said, you're 1 0 3 from my favorite podcast . I thought this is,
Speaker 1 (00:05:34) - This
Speaker 4 (00:05:34) - Is a little weird, but it is cool. This is, this is fun. Um, but 25,000 downloads. There's people out there actually holding us talking to each other. .
Speaker 1 (00:05:45) - Right. And after three in a row years. Yeah. And they're still listening, so that's cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:05:51) - But in a row. No, actually,
Speaker 1 (00:05:53) - And we don't talk about anything. Oh, that's a, that's that's a tip for people who are listening right now. We, we really don't talk about anything. We're gonna, we're gonna lead you on for about an hour and you're gonna find out about, you know, what we drink and we do our projects.
Speaker 4 (00:06:07) - A lot of other education too. Yeah. That lot too. What hurts,
Speaker 1 (00:06:11) - But yeah. What, what
Speaker 5 (00:06:15) - Hurts. That
Speaker 1 (00:06:16) - Should be, that should be a Every episode. We should have like a little jiggle. Well, it hurts.
Speaker 4 (00:06:20) - Exactly. It's
Speaker 1 (00:06:21) - Like, oh yeah, my shoulder kinda
Speaker 4 (00:06:22) - Stuck right now We're older
Speaker 5 (00:06:23) - Too. Yeah. It's next segment. The next, yeah. This next segment is called Hurts.
Speaker 1 (00:06:33) - It's brought to you by lidocaine patches. Lidocaine patches, keeping photographers together for 40 years.
Speaker 4 (00:06:39) - Oh my gosh. Yeah. AC hat.
Speaker 5 (00:06:43) - AC hat. I'll
Speaker 4 (00:06:44) - Tell you what, some of
Speaker 5 (00:06:45) - That right now, Shaq Shimmy.
Speaker 1 (00:06:47) - I would do that, but I think my back would go out.
Speaker 4 (00:06:49) - Well, my gosh, . So, but hey, another year at Texas School. Oh
Speaker 5 (00:06:54) - Boy.
Speaker 4 (00:06:54) - Um, it was, it was awesome.
Speaker 1 (00:06:57) - Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:06:57) - Explain a little bit. Tell us a little bit or we know about Texas School, but, well, you know, someone, someone listening may not know. Give us a quick,
Speaker 4 (00:07:05) - We'll, we'll start it by saying if you, if you're in photography at all, hobby or otherwise, um, at least once in your lifetime you should go to Texas School, period , because it is, it is quite the experience. Um, exactly. But not, not everybody.
Speaker 5 (00:07:22) - Hopefully you are, if you're listening to this podcast,
Speaker 4 (00:07:24) - But Texas School is, is the largest weeklong professional education and venue in pretty much the world, I believe. Uh, it's, it's a combination of probably a thou around a thousand students, 36 to 38 instructors. You're with the same instructor all week long. Uh, but at Texas school, it's, it's a perfect storm. They had, they were in the right place at the right time when schools were doing okay, but they exceeded expectations and had a lot of students. And of course then the vendors liked it and they were smart enough to really look after their vendors. And so now they have a lot of vendor support. And because of that, the cost for the students is definitely the best bang for the buck out there in the weeklong professional education atmosphere. Um, and all meals are free. Beer and wine every night are free. Uh, there's prizes, free beer. You
Speaker 1 (00:08:24) - Had to be a
Speaker 4 (00:08:24) - Free beer. Yeah. But it, it was, it, it was light beer. You should lived with that. I mean, totally
Speaker 5 (00:08:30) - Should led with that. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:08:31) - Then wine. Yeah. Still buried the lead. But
Speaker 4 (00:08:33) - We didn't drink the wine . Well, it was, it was free. It was free. It was good stuff too though. No, it was actually bottles
Speaker 1 (00:08:39) - Boxed wine.
Speaker 4 (00:08:40) - So, but they have fun nights. They have all the, uh, they actually have, uh, a sponsored White House sponsors Monday night you go down to, uh, a great big dance hoedown area, , uh, in Texas and have barbecue. It's a honk, its hug, it's a huge honk. They got, they
Speaker 5 (00:08:59) - Got the bowl,
Speaker 4 (00:09:00) - They got a live party band going on that is actually absolutely crazy nuts. Um, and they, they got the dance floor going and people on the bar and people out at the bar and, uh, they feed you like crazy and, and they have a good time. And then Tuesday is costume night.
Speaker 5 (00:09:18) - But, but what's the, my question is, what's the difference between a bar and a honky to chicken wire
Speaker 4 (00:09:24) - Mechanical? Well, let's go with that. You know, chicken
Speaker 5 (00:09:26) - Mechanical, I'm
Speaker 4 (00:09:27) - Still trying to figure out the difference between chain Sasha and Moine. So, you know, I Oh well. Oh, Asha, much faster. I've been 16 years. 17, yeah. Much faster. 16, 17 years. So I, I I'm still learning. But I do know that y'all is something that you can say and get everybody to top two. And if I say all y'all means everybody in individually, cuz plural, uh, in nature, you know, all of y'all. But, um, learning to talk Texan and, uh, it's, it's a second. It's a family. They're, they're, it's definitely, I have , um, places I like to be at different, uh, venues that I really enjoy going to. But Texas is, is family that we go to every year. And, and, uh, it's, it's, it's funny cuz um, the last e or last, uh, um, morning, they have, they, they give all prizes, you know, a lots of prizes and, and it's major prizes, you know, in the other years, un they've given away motorcycles, , you know, $5,000 lab credits, you know, stuff like that. Um, I mean, there's some pretty significant stuff going on out there. And, um, I kinda kept track over the last 16 years of teaching. There was seven people that got awards that were not my past students
Speaker 4 (00:10:45) - On, on that final thing. I'm like, that's not bad. There was a lot of prizes coming out and only seven were not one of my Wow. Uh, class from class this year, or from the past I've had in the past. So, uh, I I've, yeah, I'm getting old. Well, seven, yeah. 16
Speaker 5 (00:11:01) - Years, seven years. Seven
Speaker 4 (00:11:02) - Years ago I started, I I missed one year because I was double booked at my school out out east. But, um, so 16 years of teaching at Texas School, um, yeah, in an average class size of 25 plus. So doing the math, it's a lot of
Speaker 5 (00:11:20) - People's,
Speaker 4 (00:11:20) - A lot of people. So,
Speaker 5 (00:11:24) - Yeah. Gimme a second. We've had lot of them. It's remember when, remember when we first started this, he told me they'd be no mad . I think it was like, you've had like,
Speaker 4 (00:11:38) - No, 400,000 something, I think. Right? Let's get the calculator here is 16
Speaker 5 (00:11:44) - 400. Well, uh, but a lot of them, yeah. Have, you must not teach very well because a lot of of'em take your class multiple times. So
Speaker 3 (00:11:54) - Well, I didn't stick to that
Speaker 5 (00:11:57) - . No, it's just the, it's just the opposite. You're such, you're, it
Speaker 4 (00:12:00) - Blows
Speaker 5 (00:12:01) - Your mind. There's so much information that you want it, you know. Yeah. You want to take it more, take it instructor more than once. And that's, that is the cool thing about Texas School is like you mentioned that it's a week long, right. With the same instructor. Love it or hate it. Like, you're gonna really dive deep into everything that instructor knows and get the knowledge instead of just a three hour, one hour, you know, class and jump into the next, jump to the next you can, you know, really dive deep and really implement and really get the technique down. So when you come home, you hopefully have gained knowledge and implemented it right away instead of so many times. You, you know, that's what I stress when I teach. It's like, okay, now go home and implement this. Like, in fact in this podcast we talked about like, before you even go to a convention, set up a day when you come back, set it right away. Just part of it. Cuz if you don't do it right away, you're gonna, it's gonna be gone.
Speaker 3 (00:12:56) - Whoa. Yeah. Was there somebody, somebody, the somebody Fall .
Speaker 4 (00:13:02) - Um, I want them Exactly. I want them to
Speaker 5 (00:13:06) - Bruce Willis.
Speaker 4 (00:13:07) - We wanna implement before we leave the class. .
Speaker 3 (00:13:11) - Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:13:12) - Come
Speaker 5 (00:13:13) - Try for a party. They say it could be a
Speaker 4 (00:13:14) - Blast. Sorry. No, no. White class is about implementing during class during that week. So when you go home, you've already done it three, four or five times. Um mm-hmm. with, with a little bit of help and without help. And that way, because we've always said, we've said this mu multiple times. You, you get done listening to a great program and by the time you get home you forget a lot of it. Or when you get home, life happens. And all the things you meant to practice next week and the week after just fade away. So, um, I'm gonna make sure we all do it. Everything I talk about, we're gonna actually put into practice during that class that week. And, um, that way there's no excuses. It's, it's already ready to go when you get home. So, uh, but, but planning, I, I, I think I had the best compli it ever.
Speaker 4 (00:14:05) - Uh, a couple days after class, I got, we, I saw it on our Facebook. We have a class Facebook page and one of the students had said that, uh, yeah, I had to go home right away Friday night, Saturday I had a wedding. And paraphrasing I guess. But they were like, it was the easiest way to ever photograph because I've been doing this kind of stuff all week on these loca different locations like this. And the lighting that you showed me made things so much easier. And I was able to just communicate with the per, you know, the people. And I didn't think so much about how I was doing it because I had just done it all week, . And I said, perfect. That's the way it was supposed to work, you know? And um, so it just made me happy to hear that it made somebody else's life easier, uh, in, in what they're doing. And of course we weren't talking about weddings, but it applies to everything, you know. So vacuum's got weeder go or something.
Speaker 5 (00:15:04) - I think she's vacuum.
Speaker 1 (00:15:05) - I'll get the weed, the weed bowl. He, he mows
Speaker 4 (00:15:09) - Day, I swear. I mean we, uh, has nothing else to do, I guess.
Speaker 1 (00:15:14) - Is it the daylight there?
Speaker 4 (00:15:16) - Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:15:18) - Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:15:18) - You can hear now. Mark, stop that thing. Shut it off. Oh, well
Speaker 1 (00:15:24) - I
Speaker 4 (00:15:25) - Omni
Speaker 1 (00:15:26) - Yeah, I've got, I've got those guys on either side of the overnight, twice a week, honestly.
Speaker 4 (00:15:31) - He'll
Speaker 1 (00:15:31) - Every night. And
Speaker 4 (00:15:34) - I, that's his release, I guess. Uh, I mean, he, he takes one night and he runs his, his uh, zero turn thing around. And then the next night he'll walk his, his thing that mulch his stuff, whatever. And then the next day he'll trim and then he gets that same night, he gets back on the rider, he goes around the edges where he just trims. So he kind of mules everything around . And then he blows stuff around. And then he works in his garden the other day. I mean, seriously, he's, he's like a rotation every night. He's doing something out in the yard. I'm not gonna keep up with him. It's just not gonna happen. . No,
Speaker 1 (00:16:13) - No. Nor I .
Speaker 5 (00:16:16) - No, no . Well, yeah, yeah. I told you you guys are. Oh yeah, my neighbor cut the, uh, is
Speaker 1 (00:16:25) - It back cut? The internet?
Speaker 5 (00:16:26) - The, the fiber. So yeah. And it was on a Friday. Yeah, it was on a Friday, um, evening. So I called tds and they, cuz it, cuz it's not buried yet, so it's just laying on top of the, the grass. Cuz it was put in on a winter and they were way behind. So I called 'em like, ah, that guy my neighbor Cut the thing. Cut the line. Yeah. It'll be three to five days before we can make it out there. I'm like, three to five business days. Yep. Oh, it's Friday. And I'm like, so we were like, oh, uh, third world, uh, or first world problems, you know, it's like, what do we do? You don't read a book. It's like, but um, but my, the hotspot worked so that was kind of interesting. And like, we should go camping.
Speaker 1 (00:17:12) - Same thing.
Speaker 5 (00:17:13) - Yeah. It's like, so, oh my gosh. Yeah. It was funny cuz it's like, it's like we're camping but we're at home. Um, yeah, yeah. Build a fire.
Speaker 1 (00:17:21) - I, I told you about tds with, with my new warehouse, right. Because I called around to everybody to see who had service there and got a hold of tds and was like, yeah, we've got, we've got service there. I'm like, great. So I signed up with them and then, uh, we tried to schedule it and I'm like, well, they're like, oh, well the service is there, but we don't have any wires run to any of the buildings. That's gonna be like 90 to 120 days. . Oh,
Speaker 4 (00:17:46) - Ouch.
Speaker 1 (00:17:48) - . It's like, but you took the reservation. The reservation, but you didn't exactly keep the reservation. Reservation. Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:17:57) - Even can shake the reservation.
Speaker 1 (00:17:59) - Yeah, we have to drink on that one. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:18:03) - By the, the way.
Speaker 1 (00:18:05) - So I've been there for three months and uh, wow. I just got the notice. 30 days they should have it hooked up. Yeah,
Speaker 4 (00:18:11) - But it's there. That's the important thing.
Speaker 1 (00:18:15) - But it's there. That's the important part. Yeah, exactly. That's the hard
Speaker 4 (00:18:18) - Part. Speaking of wish I, before I move on, just so we know that it, it was really cool having that person take my picture or take a picture with me there. I, I, that was, I, it just took me by surprise, but I thought that was really the coolest thing in the world. And um, you know, I, you know, if we do more of that kind of thing, that would be really kind of cool. But it just took me by surprise cuz my mind was elsewhere that day, but
Speaker 1 (00:18:43) - Oh right. Yeah. I I've had that happen. I had that happen at Sync and someplace else too. I'm like, it just, it's just weird. You're like,
Speaker 5 (00:18:52) - Well, really? Yeah. And the cool thing at Sync this year was the fact that so many people, they would, you people like would maybe know us from being online or on stage or something like that. Maybe be afraid to come up to talk to you, you know, like, oh my God. I'm like, no, we're totally approachable. Well, most of us are, but they're like, not only we're Yeah, yeah. , but it's like, they like, I feel like I, they feel like they know us cuz they listen to us and we just talk, you know, we're just here chit chatting, so it's like they're around the campfire with us. Campfire. I never thought of that. You know, when Yeah. You know, so they're like, yeah, we just listen to you guys. So it, it sounds like I know you, it sound like I've known you forever. You're best friends cuz we just have a conversation and, and they're in with the conversation, which is pretty cool too. Cuz when we started this, it's like we're kind of loosely have a topic, but let's just kind of go all over and I don't know if people are gonna like it, but
Speaker 4 (00:19:51) - Speaking
Speaker 5 (00:19:52) - A wish they do.
Speaker 4 (00:19:53) - Where we Yeah. A lot. I was gonna say, we have a topic's, no topic. Topic today. I thought we had a topic
Speaker 1 (00:19:57) - Today, .
Speaker 5 (00:20:00) - We did. But now we're 20 minutes in, so I don't we a topic Why
Speaker 4 (00:20:04) - Not .
Speaker 5 (00:20:07) - Yeah, that's, that's true. You said
Speaker 4 (00:20:08) - You wanted to talk about equipment's and stuff. What, what kind of, what would, what'd you, what was going on? What was
Speaker 1 (00:20:14) - Well I, yeah,
Speaker 4 (00:20:15) - Yeah,
Speaker 1 (00:20:16) - I guess that that's something cool. New stuff. We, you start there, um, toys,
Speaker 4 (00:20:19) - New toys.
Speaker 5 (00:20:19) - That's, see what
Speaker 1 (00:20:20) - You got. Just got a big, big shipment in of the rolly mollies. Um, which are those big rolling booms that are actually, I, I, I searched and search and search to try to find something because everybody that starts a studio or has a home studio mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. You know, at some point you need a boom and you know, I've got those that are self-contained booms where you pull up the boom outta the center column. Yeah. But they can only handle so much weight. So everybody's like, they, they get those and they work pretty good, but then, oh, I wanna put a 400 or a 600 on there with a bigger soft box. It's like, well you need a heavier, heavier weight boom. Well then they look at those bogans like, yeah, I had, I think I know Carl, you had, I dunno if Dan ever had one, but the really big expensive one are like 700 and some bucks and they're Yeah. And they're too big. They're too big for a home studio or a small studio. So I was looking for something that could handle a fair amount of weight, that could be compact enough yet durable enough. Yay to roll around. I found it so sourced it called the Rolly Moly, which I think the original working title was the, uh, Boomie mc face. Yeah. I
Speaker 4 (00:21:26) - Something we should have called it the Thunder, you know, it's the thunder, the boom, the thunder boom. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:21:32) - Thunder and
Speaker 1 (00:21:33) - The boom. Oh, bring in the boom.
Speaker 5 (00:21:36) - We had a name, almost
Speaker 1 (00:21:37) - Like a pseudo-name. Remember that contest? And Yeah. People were throwing stuff out there. Yeah,
Speaker 5 (00:21:42) - That's like, like, so our neck, speaking of which side note, quick tangent. Our next dog, his name's gonna be Tango.
Speaker 4 (00:21:50) - Tango and Cash
Speaker 1 (00:21:51) - And Cash . I got break on that one. Yep,
Speaker 5 (00:21:55) - Absolutely. Is that her peso? We're we're still side. Oh geez.
Speaker 1 (00:22:00) - Well, yeah, then you gotta get Turner and then you gotta get Hooch. That's right. .
Speaker 5 (00:22:05) - Yes.
Speaker 1 (00:22:07) - Only thing I remember about that movie is there's a lot of slobber. A lot of Berber. No, you do it that Dan, I got, I just got a big truckload of those in. Woo.
Speaker 5 (00:22:16) - Are you able to say a price on that or?
Speaker 1 (00:22:18) - I am, I am able to say a price. All right. Because I, I speak English usually . Those are, I, I really, really wanted to bring these in under $400 because so many booms, the nicer booms are 5, 6, 700, 1200, whatever. I brought it under $400. It's $398.
Speaker 5 (00:22:37) - Wow. Nice. Nice. Yeah. And it
Speaker 1 (00:22:39) - Rolls, it's under 400. It and it roll rolls really nice. And
Speaker 5 (00:22:42) - It's got the, the, the crank to, to tilt the head. Right?
Speaker 1 (00:22:47) - Yes. That was another big part of it. A big part. If you ever used a boom and you get the flash out there and you get the soft box or your beauty dish out there and you get everything, I kinda eyeballed from the boom. And then you go back and you look and it's like, ah, it's at an angle. Uhhuh . And then you gotta lower the boom and you gotta guess, guess how far the, this one has a crank on the bottom so it controls the head remotely. So you crank it and it'll pivot the head back. That's awesome. And forths exactly where you want it. Yeah,
Speaker 5 (00:23:15) - Yeah. When, when, yeah, when I was teaching in Texas, they had that at the studio. I'm like, whoa. Like this is so cool. . Like I said, I'm like, I gotta get one of these. And I looked at the price, I'm like, whoa, okay. Maybe not. Yeah. But at your price point. That's why I asked for the price cuz it's like, it's significantly lower than, than the, the ones that were out there, you know?
Speaker 1 (00:23:38) - Oh yeah, yeah. Like half the price. The one
Speaker 4 (00:23:40) - I have is, is bigger. You can extend a long way. It holds a lot of weight, but it takes a lot of oom to get that sucker up there. And, but it doesn't tilt. I mean, I, I don't have that tilting capability. So that's the big problem is that you gotta like back down and tilt a little bit. Yeah. That, yeah. So it comes back too. Why am I hurting today? Yeah. Oh yeah. We've been icy hot back there again.
Speaker 1 (00:24:07) - Yeah. It's hard on the shoulders and the back, both of them. Yeah. So that one I'm pretty excited about. That's cool. And then, um, I got in, I have these, um, soft boxes. Uh, most of my soft boxes are made for me. I do carry a couple that are a different brand and they brought 'em in for specific reasons. You know, I've got a couple, I have two Go Dock soft boxes, the only two Go Dock soft boxes I carry. And they're for the 8,300 because they have that special go docks mount. And those, those have done really well. I, Dan you've got one. I know I use it mm-hmm. , um, nice, lightweight, very small. But I also have a series of flip soft boxes that are the fastest soft boxes in the world to set up. It's a second. Whoa.
Speaker 4 (00:24:49) - You basically
Speaker 1 (00:24:50) - Flip it and it's set up, it's, and then you wanna collapse it. It's like push one button collapses done, but it's already there. You move on to your next location. Yeah, I like it. But it's made by a company called SM DV outta Korea, not China, for, for once outta Korea. And they're called the flip, um, flips off boxes, flip speed boxes. And I originally had some in, uh, 24 inch size. Well they came out with a 28 inch size. So I started carrying that and I just got the new 32. There
Speaker 4 (00:25:15) - We go. Now we're talking. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:25:17) - Yeah. Plus there's a special color filter kit that you can attach to these. So you can use it with filters as well and attaches right on the front of the flash. So then you can have a color
Speaker 4 (00:25:28) - Gel in your soft box
Speaker 1 (00:25:29) - Inside your soft
Speaker 4 (00:25:30) - Box. I like it. What?
Speaker 1 (00:25:33) - Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:25:34) - So will that adapter fit boy, I mean will it fit my 400 or 602 or is it just
Speaker 1 (00:25:39) - For It will
Speaker 4 (00:25:40) - Not. Okay. Just for the three and 100 I believe.
Speaker 1 (00:25:43) - Yeah. What they've got these special magnetic adapters to make it really quick to attach your flash. And they're designed to fit like the go docks, um, 8,100 Pro in the V v1. The Roundhead flashes Uhhuh or the 8,200 with the special H 200 R Roundhead will fit in there. So the 80, so that's one adapter. The
Speaker 4 (00:26:03) - The 200 Pro though, you mean? Right?
Speaker 1 (00:26:06) - Yeah, the 200 200 Pro. Okay. There's a, a, a roundhead that you can get for that mm-hmm. . Um, it'll fit a regular speedlight that's a separate adapter. It's called a s adapter, which gets, gets confusing s for Speedlight. So that'll fit a regular speedlight or a regular 8,200 with a fornell head. And then there's a G one adapter for the 8,300 Pro with the go docks mount. So that'll fit. But the 400 will not. I've tried it. That's the bulb sticks out too far. Oh,
Speaker 4 (00:26:32) - Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:26:33) - Is the problem. Um, but yeah, so if you're using a smaller flash, you want a really running gun set up, these flip boxes are fantastic. Sounds
Speaker 4 (00:26:41) - Like a lot of fun. Well, and that makes sense
Speaker 5 (00:26:42) - Too, because they are made to run and gun or just hold the flash with the soft box. So having a 400 mm-hmm. and holding that with the soft box is, is a lot like
Speaker 1 (00:26:54) - Carrying around a war hammer. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:26:55) - ,
Speaker 4 (00:26:56) - My wifey brought me a cheat.
Speaker 5 (00:26:58) - Oh boy. Fell.
Speaker 4 (00:27:00) - Yeah. Pardon? Of my brownie
Speaker 5 (00:27:02) - And
Speaker 1 (00:27:02) - Oh, I just couldn't tell what that was. .
Speaker 4 (00:27:04) - She made brownies with, uh, car sea salt caramely stuff in the middle.
Speaker 1 (00:27:09) - Oh, nice. Yeah. First I thought it was like a mushroom cab. I was like, you doing some
Speaker 4 (00:27:13) - Mushrooms there? Do that too
Speaker 5 (00:27:13) - Though. She bring going into the neighborhood. Is that why he stopped? Tell
Speaker 1 (00:27:18) - Him to chill.
Speaker 5 (00:27:21) - special brownies. Mm-hmm. You are in Michigan, so That's true. We are. That's true. That's true. Well, it's also weird cuz I see billboards all over, like for legal marijuana in Wisconsin. I'm like, that's like Michigan's like separate hours away. They're advertising. But I guess we're the only state, like in the whole perimeter where it's cuz Minnesota, right? Illinois, Michigan, right? Mm-hmm. . Well, when I was in, so I guess
Speaker 4 (00:27:51) - When we were in Iron Mountain, I mean, right there on the border, so, and I'd drive past, uh, two facilities on the way into town every day. And there was a lineup of cars there during, they opened during Covid and it was drive up only and there was a line of cars there around the building constantly. Um, um, and if you couldn't buy, most of em are Wisconsin plates.
Speaker 5 (00:28:21) - . Well, yeah, that time I came up to Yeah. To record you at your studio. I was like, what is that line of vehicles there? . Oh, I see. Mm-hmm. ,
Speaker 1 (00:28:31) - Was that the dispensary or was that the meth house down the road? Yes.
Speaker 5 (00:28:35) - . Yeah. Yes. Both as we all drink at the same Exactly.
Speaker 4 (00:28:41) - , I'm probably stuck in my tea. This p
Speaker 1 (00:28:44) - This paws brought to you by alcohol, alcohol, beers,
Speaker 4 (00:28:49) - PS Alcohol and beers And
Speaker 5 (00:28:51) - Beers. And beers. And beers. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:28:55) - No, they, that's quite the business. They, they said they were making, uh, it's all cash and they were, they were taking in over $300,000 a week
Speaker 1 (00:29:08) - .
Speaker 5 (00:29:08) - Oh,
Speaker 4 (00:29:11) - A weak.
Speaker 5 (00:29:13) - Wow. Wow. But I can't afford a hundred dollars for an eight by 10. Right.
Speaker 1 (00:29:18) - You can't smoke an eight by 10 either, right? Well, you can.
Speaker 4 (00:29:22) - Yeah. So
Speaker 5 (00:29:23) - It's a, not if it's mounted those little eight by
Speaker 1 (00:29:25) - 10, those resins are a little harsh on the lungs. See, but that, that,
Speaker 4 (00:29:29) - You know, that comes back to what's important to people, you know? I mean
Speaker 5 (00:29:33) - Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:29:34) - Um, you know, maybe we should, maybe you should put that in your marketing, you know, I mean Yeah. The a hundred dollars for my by 10
Speaker 5 (00:29:41) - Free, free joint instead of a Yeti. What? Yeah, that's right. With a $1,200 order. Exactly. One
Speaker 1 (00:29:46) - Bag. One bag of edible gummies.
Speaker 3 (00:29:49) - . Yeah. .
Speaker 1 (00:29:53) - Bust those out before the ordering sessions.
Speaker 3 (00:29:55) - Yeah. There you go.
Speaker 5 (00:29:59) - Please, please eat this one hour before your session and take a photo of your wall so we can mm-hmm. . Mm-hmm. , mock up your images when you come in
Speaker 3 (00:30:08) - .
Speaker 1 (00:30:11) - I'm trying to think what else that, uh, came in. Oh, you know what's been selling kind of interesting that's been really selling well lately is colored flashes. Not jelled flashes, but colored flashes. I've got 8,100 pros in like Arctic White Oh. And pink. And like this teal flu. And they come in red too. I don't have any reds in stock right now, but I'm thinking about getting some, those have been selling somewhat in
Speaker 4 (00:30:36) - Art classroom.
Speaker 5 (00:30:36) - Popular color
Speaker 4 (00:30:38) - Teal was in my classroom. All
Speaker 1 (00:30:39) - Of them.
Speaker 4 (00:30:40) - Yeah, all of them. Yeah. I, I couldn't
Speaker 5 (00:30:41) - Equally, equally. Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:30:43) - Yeah. I sold probably, I wanna say four arctic whites already this week. So, which actually it was surprisingly is also the name of, uh, one of the pop brands. The Arctic White.
Speaker 3 (00:30:55) - Yeah. .
Speaker 4 (00:30:58) - That's
Speaker 3 (00:30:58) - Funny.
Speaker 4 (00:31:01) - No, somebody, one of
Speaker 5 (00:31:02) - The, that's probably true.
Speaker 3 (00:31:04) - Probably true.
Speaker 4 (00:31:05) - One of the students in class had a Teal Teal 100 yet, so I, I like that's, I didn't even know they had them. Yep. Yeah. Looked pretty cool. So remember
Speaker 1 (00:31:13) - Back in the day, we used to do that with our alien bees, you know, we'd get, get the green one or the paint or whatever's.
Speaker 5 (00:31:19) - Well, yeah. And when I used to do a bunch of group shoots or we'd go to these abandoned buildings and stuff, it's like, make sure you label your equipment. And I was like, I don't have labels. So I went to Home Depot and got some spray paint duct tape. Oh no. I duct tape or the flame blood. The flame duct tape. Yeah. You can get different colors. But I got this. Put all the flames on, like, oh, here we go. So it's still Yep. I, I had to do, I had to what my new 300 when we were out in Vegas and a few other things. I'm like, oh, do I still have that flame duct tape? Sure enough.
Speaker 4 (00:31:51) - Wrap
Speaker 5 (00:31:52) - It off because you just peel a little piece of it. But Yeah, we should make, we should make custom wraps like they do for like the UTVs and stuff. Oh yeah. Or the snowmobiles. Ooh. Hey
Speaker 4 (00:32:02) - Actually I could print those on my peel and with my peeling stick stuff from Lrap.
Speaker 5 (00:32:05) - There you go. You just have to make a template for each flash, which would be difficult, but
Speaker 4 (00:32:14) - Not too bad.
Speaker 5 (00:32:15) - You just have to get one, have Michael get one and flatten it out. Run it over a truck. I
Speaker 4 (00:32:20) - Made, I made a template for wine bottle so that we can bring my uncle, um, homemade gin if we actually made labels and it worked. I mean, peel and stick works on a lot of stuff. So I'm just saying .
Speaker 5 (00:32:36) - Yeah. Here we go. That's our next million dollar idea. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:32:42) - Custom labels for goldlock splashes.
Speaker 5 (00:32:45) - Yes. Yeah. Or better yet, get the foam protector. And that's different colors or different. We already went down this road though, .
Speaker 1 (00:32:56) - I know, man. I, I looked into that cuz I thought Oh, that's a great idea. Well, I, I even got, I contacted the Cheesehead place, right, the formation guys. Yeah. The mold is like, you know, they're talking 30, 40,000 thousand dollars to get a mold. Yeah. And I'm like, I'm not fronting that kinda money. I don't know if people are gonna buy these.
Speaker 5 (00:33:13) - Yeah. That's like what I worked when I did a lot of muskie fishing and I worked with a guy who they created their own lure mm-hmm. and we did the marketing and the filming and everything for him and Yeah. The mo the mold Yeah. For that lure. Yeah. 30, 40 grand. It's nuts for the mm-hmm. . Yeah. You know, and Yeah. And that's just to inject it and you know, then you have the blanks and you have to paint them and you put the hooks on and everything. But yeah, that, but that's one bait, you know, so you know, you with so many different products. That's the thing. You know, you gotta do it for the, I you could pick 400, the 600, the 200. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:33:57) - Oh right. Yeah. Right.
Speaker 5 (00:33:59) - I mean the 200 probably would be better. 30, 60, 90 the one. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:34:05) - Well my fear was too that by the time I decide, okay, yeah, I'll, I'll bite the bolt and get these made and then, you know, then go, docs would come out with something or Aama would come out with something and change. Yep. Totally undercut the or Yeah. Or the product would change. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:34:19) - The the, the dimension will Yeah. We're, we're reduce it by a quarter of an inch. Oh man. Oh yes.
Speaker 1 (00:34:26) - . We're gonna change where the buttons are. Oh,
Speaker 5 (00:34:28) - None of 'em. Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep. It's like the iPhone. Right. Why you put the button over here now? Dang it. The case doesn't work anymore. Gotta get charging cord. Right, right. New charging cord and the toddler
Speaker 1 (00:34:40) - Buttons, whatever you call. I don't even have buttons anymore. .
Speaker 5 (00:34:43) - Yeah. Yeah. Crazy, crazy. So those that are too,
Speaker 1 (00:34:50) - That's it. I don't have any other products.
Speaker 5 (00:34:51) - Those, that two main thing. Well, you got that project, the projector thing in. Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:34:55) - Yeah. The one I sent you that you sent back. Yeah, that one.
Speaker 5 (00:34:58) - Jen, I assume you got it. You sent it to Jen. Yeah. Well why didn't sent it to Jen? You could have just sent it to Jen . I would've kept it if that. Oh, she did? Uh, okay.
Speaker 1 (00:35:08) - Yeah. She said she was gonna use it right away. Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:35:12) - Yeah. It's um, how do you describe it? Well, it goes on the 8,100 Pro, um, ideally, or you can put it on a speedlight, but, uh, it's basically like a projector that they have slides like, almost like 35 millimeter film slides that slide in. You attach it to the front of a flash and now you can create new backgrounds or, or you can pop it onto people in the background. It's kind of cool. You check it out. It's called the AK crap . Really? So be product names AKR 21. So if you go to the mo light.com, just go up into the search tool and just type a K R 21. It'll take you right there. Says they're pretty inexpensive. I mean with a, with 50 slides plus the lens, plus the attachment and the adapter. I include an adapter for Speedlights too. It's like 139 bucks.
Speaker 4 (00:36:01) - Oh geez.
Speaker 1 (00:36:02) - So yeah, it's
Speaker 4 (00:36:03) - Like nothing How much your background. So
Speaker 1 (00:36:05) - , that's like a, that's like a bag of edible gummies. So
Speaker 4 (00:36:11) - Crazy.
Speaker 1 (00:36:12) - Or or five, five lures at, uh, fleet Farm. ?
Speaker 5 (00:36:18) - No, not Musky. Lures. Not Muskie.
Speaker 4 (00:36:19) - Lus not
Speaker 1 (00:36:20) - Musk. They're expensive.
Speaker 4 (00:36:20) - Yeah, pretty expensive. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of
Speaker 5 (00:36:23) - Nuts. I always, I always kid because I still have like two tackle boxes full of Musky lures. I'm like, if you ever see me post my Musky Lures and Facebook marketplace, you know, I'm hard up because that's like . It's like eight grand of Right.
Speaker 1 (00:36:38) - Oh
Speaker 5 (00:36:38) - Geez. Sitting down there. Yeah. Although I haven't used them in probably five years. Some of course, my God,
Speaker 4 (00:36:46) - Maybe I should,
Speaker 5 (00:36:47) - I don't know
Speaker 4 (00:36:48) - About Dan. There
Speaker 5 (00:36:48) - Was unload some,
Speaker 4 (00:36:49) - There was a guy I used to work with, uh, one summer between in, in college, it was at a tree fire. We're out pruning trees and crap. And he is, he is big into muskie fishing. He's like, yeah, I got all k tons of money. These damn lure. But you know what my favorite lure me, myself. It's a piece of two by four, four
Speaker 5 (00:37:07) - Black. But, uh, piece
Speaker 4 (00:37:08) - Of two by four he split and he beat the shit on him. Screwed some hooks in and threw some paint on. He said, try a lot. Cut more fish on that damn thing. and all the other owners that I spent money on, so. Sounds
Speaker 1 (00:37:22) - About right. You
Speaker 4 (00:37:23) - Never know, but, well,
Speaker 5 (00:37:24) - Well, we'll circle this. We'll, we'll, we'll wrap a bow on this. Not rabbit bull, but we all like, everything. I circle back to business and marketing and it doesn't, you know, fine wine people. Most people buy wine by what the label. Yeah. What the label looks like. If they don't really know. Like this label looks nice, you know, it's, it's packaging. Uh, was it Maker's Mark where they started?
Speaker 1 (00:37:47) - They didn't Oh, the wax. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:37:49) - Yes. Custom. If you watch like the Food Custom that Built America, that stuff is ama that show's amazing for marketing and the things that these guys have done. But yeah, they weren't selling really well while they started putting that, that red wax. Oh, sales went up. You know. And so same thing with lures. Lures catch more people than they do fish because you can, yeah. You can have a, a fish isn't, it just sees something flashing and erratic. It's gonna go after it. It's, it's an instinct. But if it, but people, you know, consumers look at it, Ooh, that looks like a perch. And it looks, look at the look, the fine detail of the coloring and the shape of it. Oh, that looks like a perch. I fish are gonna love that. No, you know, it's like the best lure for muskie fishing is a black bucktail.
Speaker 5 (00:38:38) - It's a silver blade with black hair on the bag. I've caught more fish on that and everyone has, but Yep. Nope. You get fall into the, oh, this is a custom paint job and they, you even get into that limited edition. Mm-hmm. custom painted by so-and-so certain mm-hmm. fishermen. So they're like, oh, you know, same thing. It's like where people maybe want to buy, um, an action if, if, you know, so-and-so creates an action. So they want to get a piece of that person, a piece of that look as a photographer, it's similar to lures. It's like if so and so painted that lure and they're gonna throw it all the time and they're gonna get pictures with it, that lure must catch fish. Right. And a lot of these big time guides and stuff, they'll go up to Canada where there's monster fish and we saw it happen once.
Speaker 5 (00:39:31) - It was crazy where this guy went and he caught a 50 inch, 53 inch fish, which is kind of the, the pinnacle of 50 inch Muskie. Took a picture with a, like a Saint Croix t-shirt on. Mm-hmm. took the t-shirt off, put a different t-shirt on. Rapala took his shit, took that T-shirt. He was taking picture after picture picture. Oh shit. So he could get sponsorship. Yep. Or he could get paid. Like, okay, who wants to use this photo to promote your product? Yep. Genius on his part. Absolutely right. Put it out to the highest bidder. Like, who wants this? Cause yeah, this is a massive fish. Like awesome. Smart shady, but awesome
Speaker 4 (00:40:13) - .
Speaker 1 (00:40:14) - So what, what you're saying is, so should I start signing flashes? Sure.
Speaker 4 (00:40:18) - Mm-hmm. .
Speaker 1 (00:40:19) - See, I, I had a promo. Well you
Speaker 5 (00:40:21) - Have to be a good photographer.
Speaker 1 (00:40:22) - Oh. Oh, that's true. Well, hey, well back in.
Speaker 4 (00:40:25) - We should have a hap we should have a happy a photo happy hour,
Speaker 5 (00:40:29) - A limited edition photo. Happy hour Flash. Flash.
Speaker 4 (00:40:32) - There you go. Yes. Yes we should. Which one? Four.
Speaker 5 (00:40:35) - And you get the T-shirt for free.
Speaker 4 (00:40:36) - And a T-shirt. Yes. Let's use the 400 pro. You can label a four pro.
Speaker 1 (00:40:43) - Yeah. That's rectangularish. It
Speaker 4 (00:40:46) - Is. And everybody can use one. Yeah. Go there. Everybody needs a 400 pro,
Speaker 5 (00:40:52) - A 400 pro. Sure.
Speaker 1 (00:40:53) - Actually I need to order somewhere. That's one. The only flash I'm a little low on right now, but,
Speaker 4 (00:40:57) - Okay. Everyone needs,
Speaker 1 (00:40:58) - But buy while you can. Limited edition. Limited edition. Limited quality. Limited, limited quantity unlimit, quality . That's
Speaker 5 (00:41:06) - Actually quality. It is
Speaker 1 (00:41:08) - Quality's horrible.
Speaker 4 (00:41:09) - It has become my favorite, my favorite Flash so far. . I mean I, I use the heck out of the 600, but you know, cause that's what I, the 600, 602 hundreds. Um, but Matt would've got that 400. It is just, you can use it for everything and it's so, yeah, it's so light compared to the 600. Um, it's not that much heavier than the 200. Um, it's sleek. It still has, you know, the ttl, it's got, I mean it's just, it's got everything and it's easy to get around. I mean that, it's, to me, it's like the mvp, but I know you guys are all hyped up the 300 now and I, I haven't tried it yet, so I, I can't say much, but, um, but to me right now, the 400 is like MVP at the lineup. But I, I've been hearing really good things about the 300 too. So I, I, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (00:41:59) - Well to me, the 400, if, if you had to buy one flash and you needed to use it in the studio and on location's, the 400.
Speaker 4 (00:42:08) - Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:42:09) - If you're really only running around on location 300. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. That's kinda a delineation for me.
Speaker 4 (00:42:16) - Speaking of which,
Speaker 1 (00:42:16) - So when people ask for consultation, that's what I say.
Speaker 4 (00:42:19) - That's saved my butt by the way. Um, when you decide, you know, if they're gonna use it only in the studio when I had, i I, the 17 team baseball league a couple weeks ago, right before, right before Texas School. And I thought all of a sudden I thought, Ooh, which my batteries are my batteries going to carry this . Um, that's a lot of shots. And it does, it's a very lot of shots. Especially the way I was doing things. Cause I was doing many, many poses for each kid, um, to composite and to, for individual and the teams. And, um, I, we ended up going, the route we went was I bought extra beds with 82 hundreds, um, and just kept charging and putting new ones in everything else, um, for accent lights. But the main and the fills were, um, the adapters, the AC adapters and Nikes. That was the way to go. You didn't, you didn't run outta power with those? Nope, not at all. I just plugged that sucker in the wall. . Of course. There was a time I actually, I started worrying because we had, we had lightning storms that were severe when we were photographing. And I thought, man, what if the power goes on? I thought you flip it to the other battery .
Speaker 1 (00:43:40) - Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 4 (00:43:41) - We're still golden. This is gonna still work. So I thought either way, we're okay. We're gonna be fine. So I think it was a, it was a great fix for the situation and for, uh, the combination of your studio life versus your own location life. Uh, it worked out really, really well. So, um, by
Speaker 1 (00:44:00) - The way, that should probably ex
Speaker 4 (00:44:02) - Go ahead. Go ahead. Oh, I was just gonna say we use, I used Dan's template for that. Uh, they loved it. Yeah. Great. They loved it by the way. Great. They, they thought it was fantastic and cool and more was happy. So Unleashed, unleashed, unleashed, unleashed. And you door
Speaker 1 (00:44:17) - Seniors unlocked do com
Speaker 4 (00:44:19) - In your, in your new
Speaker 1 (00:44:21) - Area. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 4 (00:44:22) -
Speaker 1 (00:44:23) - , they
Speaker 4 (00:44:23) - Were happy. So
Speaker 1 (00:44:25) - I was just gonna add, uh, people might not understand what you're talking about. The AC adapter, the 400 pro, everything from the 400 pro on up in size, they have available, it doesn't come with it, but they have available AC adapters. So you take the battery off the AC adapter clips right in where the battery was. You plug it into the wall. No, it can go all day. So, you know, if you, if you want to, I don't wanna call it a hybrid cuz there are such things as hybrid flashes, but you know, hybrid AC dc Flash 400, pro 600 B and bm Yeah. 600 pro. Um, they have AC adapters and they also have head extensions. Yeah. So we started off talking about a boom, what's the best way to use a flash on a boom? Yeah. That
Speaker 3 (00:45:07) - Extension
Speaker 1 (00:45:08) - Put the main body down low on the boom and use an extension head, run the cord out to the end of the boom. And you don't have all the weight of the flash out there, you just have the weight of the soft box. Yeah. Which is, see a lot of people don't even realize that stuff's out there. It's like, Hey man, just ask, look across.
Speaker 3 (00:45:25) - Yeah. Or listen podcast well will tell
Speaker 5 (00:45:28) - You. Oh listen p Yeah. Well and that was the thing with the summit last year where so many people loved your, your intros and, and exit things. Cuz you explained a lot of things that people like, oh, I didn't, I didn't know that was even No, they don't know what to ask. You don't even know that, that you have that cuz there's so many products. That's, that's the one thing if you want to call it a, a negative with AKs is they have so many great, there's a lot things that are always coming out with new stuff that it's like, oh, now I want that. Now I want that. Yeah. Or it's like, this is, uh, this is it, this is awesome. That's awesome. But then if you don't stay on top of it or if you don't go to conventions and and see you in person and see the whole lineup and touch it and feel it and you just don't know end the product too. Not just, not just you.
Speaker 3 (00:46:16) - . I was,
Speaker 1 (00:46:18) - I was leaving that alone.
Speaker 3 (00:46:19) - So, uh, what are you guys drinking? ? You
Speaker 5 (00:46:24) - So
Speaker 3 (00:46:24) - Soft. Yeah, . Yikes. Well,
Speaker 1 (00:46:30) - You know, like we, we were just talking about the 300 Pro and the 400 Pro and we shoot those, you know what I shot the last two sh shoots I did last week. The 1200 pro because Yeah. I could Yeah. Was one. And the other one I was like one, I was gonna be in a dentist office and I had to photograph four dentists and I had to try to create the look of the ambient light and be able to shoot deeper depth of field and stuff like that. And I wasn't going, moving around from spot to spot to spot to spot. So I took the 1200 pro, put it up on a big stand with a 72 inch mofo. And that was nice big light that I could just boom, boom, boom, boom. That was like a 16th. Powering, getting F 13. So . Yeah,
Speaker 3 (00:47:16) - That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (00:47:17) - Was pretty crazy.
Speaker 3 (00:47:18) - Crazy cool. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:47:20) - And then I had a photograph, a fine art photo of a piglet. And, uh,
Speaker 3 (00:47:25) - Wait, what? Wait, a a what
Speaker 1 (00:47:28) - Have you've seen the fine art? Black and whites I've done of uh, I have a client that has funky chickens and ducks and a Turkey and a sheep and Okay. I've, yeah, I did those last year and now they've got piglets that piglets that's
Speaker 4 (00:47:42) - What I want. They're
Speaker 1 (00:47:43) - A little older than they had described to me.
Speaker 4 (00:47:46) - .
Speaker 1 (00:47:46) - Okay. So I'm thinking piglets, you know, and people can't see
Speaker 4 (00:47:49) - Mylet. Two little things piglet.
Speaker 1 (00:47:50) - Mm-hmm. . Okay. This big
Speaker 4 (00:47:53) - Pig.
Speaker 1 (00:47:54) - Really? Yeah. Darn near ju basically juvenile pig. So, um, try to get them to, to uh, sit still.
Speaker 4 (00:48:03) - Duct tape. Duct tape works. Duct tape. Works for kids, works for pigs. I, you know,
Speaker 1 (00:48:08) - Actually I joked with the client's like Yeah. What we should do with this is, uh, we should just put 'em in the freezer for a little bit. Kinda like they do with butterflies.
Speaker 4 (00:48:16) - , right?
Speaker 1 (00:48:17) - They do. Butterflies will slow
Speaker 5 (00:48:19) - 'em down. Is that what they do with butterflies?
Speaker 4 (00:48:21) - Well, they come slow, slow 'em down. They come frozen. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Speaker 1 (00:48:25) - Yeah. They'll just do with the piglet. It'll be fine. Mm-hmm. before you write letters, we were just joking,
Speaker 5 (00:48:31) - Just joking. You,
Speaker 4 (00:48:33) - I don't know, there's Texas school. There was a give them,
Speaker 5 (00:48:36) - Give them some gummies. .
Speaker 4 (00:48:37) - There is. Or some brandy. There's enough brandy in here. I mean you can just take some of mine. I don't care. But poor,
Speaker 1 (00:48:45) - Poor lion's husband cuz you know, I showed you how big this big was and I said, okay Nate, you got a lion king. That puppy . So he was like down on his knees trying to hold it up. Cause I had a big six inch soap box working as a high key background. It's like a little higher, Nate. A little higher in the pig's going,
Speaker 4 (00:49:03) - arms are starting to shake and
Speaker 1 (00:49:06) - Yeah, he was. I'm like a little longer. Little longer. This focus. Yeah. We gotta do that again.
Speaker 4 (00:49:11) - My bad. Sounds
Speaker 5 (00:49:12) - Like it's like goat yoga.
Speaker 4 (00:49:14) - . Yeah. Well it's, I call it photo aerobics, man. Feel the burn. Come on. You could do this 3, 4, 5 more times easily. I think there's no photographer. Just says, let's just do it once, right? One more time. Yeah, yeah. Just one more time. Okay. One more. Okay, one
Speaker 1 (00:49:27) - More. A few more, few more pig curls. This one
Speaker 4 (00:49:30) - Pig curls.
Speaker 5 (00:49:32) - Pig curls.
Speaker 4 (00:49:34) - I like it.
Speaker 5 (00:49:35) - Pork rides and pig curls. Ooh.
Speaker 4 (00:49:37) - Pork rides.
Speaker 5 (00:49:40) - Roads.
Speaker 1 (00:49:41) - .
Speaker 4 (00:49:43) - Now one now one. Pork
Speaker 1 (00:49:44) - Chops. Dad, those all come from a pig. Oh sure. Lisa. They all come from some magical animal.
Speaker 4 (00:49:52) - Simpson Easter hair. That's a drink right there. Yeah. For anybody knew. We should tell 'em what that's all about though. Ain't
Speaker 1 (00:50:02) - Tell we,
Speaker 4 (00:50:02) - What's that quote? Like lyrics from sitcoms or movies we have to drink as well as max
Speaker 5 (00:50:06) - Lyrics.
Speaker 4 (00:50:07) - Well,
Speaker 1 (00:50:08) - You know, I don't know if we've been singing yet, but Yeah. Yeah. .
Speaker 4 (00:50:11) - Okay. Quotes.
Speaker 1 (00:50:13) - Quotes here go. Yeah. Loosely reference. Even
Speaker 5 (00:50:17) - This this reference quotes. Yeah, yeah. Stuff like that. Speaking of which, we have to get a special guest. Jennifer Denton. She, she needs to be on this podcast. Okay. Cuz she is the queen of movie quotes. Like Oh really? Yeah. Oh yes. Oh. She's rattling things on and off. Like she's at Fusion the last two years and it's hilarious cuz we're both dropping things and we're dying laughing. And no one, like everyone else, like Jen's looking, you know, Jen like, huh? Like, what are you guys laughing about? Oh, we, we gotta, it's like one after another. Like, we have our own language. It's just movie quotes.
Speaker 4 (00:50:54) - We, we'll, we'll get along. Great. Let's, let's do this. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:50:57) - Yes, yes, yes. We
Speaker 4 (00:50:58) - We should have another have
Speaker 5 (00:50:59) - To
Speaker 4 (00:51:00) - Sign her up. We should have a guest. I mean, in fact, next episode is 75, right?
Speaker 1 (00:51:06) - It is.
Speaker 4 (00:51:06) - So we should have like a,
Speaker 1 (00:51:07) - Oh, the 75th anniversary.
Speaker 4 (00:51:09) - We should have a 75th, uh, uh, a guest speaker.
Speaker 5 (00:51:12) - A guest guest speaker
Speaker 4 (00:51:13) - Person
Speaker 5 (00:51:14) - Thingy. It's just hard to coordinate always with everyone. So it's, it's hard for
Speaker 1 (00:51:18) - Us three to coordinate, get together. Right.
Speaker 4 (00:51:21) - But we should do that at 75.
Speaker 1 (00:51:22) - What do we know that really doesn't have anything better to do?
Speaker 4 (00:51:25) - I don't know. I could talk movie stuff. That would be cool actually.
Speaker 3 (00:51:29) - .
Speaker 1 (00:51:29) - Yeah. No, but I'm just, in terms of a guest who can we invite that will pretty much be available no matter what.
Speaker 3 (00:51:35) - Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:51:36) - Absolutely. Jen,
Speaker 3 (00:51:37) - Jen, Jen.
Speaker 4 (00:51:39) - No, she's usually napping. She's napping.
Speaker 5 (00:51:41) - She's on vacation or Napp. Oring
Speaker 4 (00:51:43) - Or napping. She's on a plane. She's on a plane somewhere and
Speaker 5 (00:51:46) - Yeah. Yeah,
Speaker 1 (00:51:46) - She's usually awake by eight or nine o'clock. So we should be okay
Speaker 4 (00:51:49) - At night. Yeah,
Speaker 1 (00:51:51) - At night. I know,
Speaker 4 (00:51:52) - But, but it's getting warmer now.
Speaker 5 (00:51:53) - That's what
Speaker 4 (00:51:53) - It's now it's getting warmer now. And she's got her pool going, so
Speaker 3 (00:51:57) - Mm-hmm.
Speaker 4 (00:51:58) - Might not be an option. Yeah. Although we, we should go to her pool and do the podcast from her pool.
Speaker 3 (00:52:07) - Hm. Soon
Speaker 1 (00:52:09) - You have the kinda water that turns green if you, you know.
Speaker 4 (00:52:12) - No, it's blue. It turns blue. Blue. It
Speaker 1 (00:52:14) - Turns blue. Turns blue. If it turns blue. If you,
Speaker 4 (00:52:15) - Yeah. Oh, we're certainly doing that.
Speaker 5 (00:52:17) - That's grownups
Speaker 3 (00:52:19) - .
Speaker 1 (00:52:19) - Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (00:52:19) - That's good.
Speaker 4 (00:52:21) - I mean, it's Jen's Pool
Speaker 3 (00:52:23) - .
Speaker 5 (00:52:23) - That's right. Was
Speaker 1 (00:52:24) - Was that a grownups reference was sir?
Speaker 5 (00:52:26) - It was. It was. That was a grownups.
Speaker 3 (00:52:27) - Grownups . We're
Speaker 5 (00:52:30) - Gonna get chocolate wasted with some, uh, gummies as well.
Speaker 3 (00:52:33) -
Speaker 4 (00:52:34) - Jen's house. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (00:52:37) - Yes. But,
Speaker 5 (00:52:40) - So this next episode is sponsored by Blue Crush
Speaker 3 (00:52:44) - .
Speaker 5 (00:52:47) - No, Arctic Ice. What is it?
Speaker 3 (00:52:48) - Arctic Ice? Yeah. .
Speaker 1 (00:52:51) - Well, actually, in all honesty, the photo Happy Hour is sponsored in part by Mo Light. America's top rated Go Docs retailer. Visit go mo light.com and Photo Happy Hour is also sponsored by Seniors Unlocked, featuring education overlays, brushes, textures, gummies, and more

Speaker 3 (00:53:22) - ,
Speaker 1 (00:53:26) - Somebody's gonna go there. You know, actually you should put a landing page at slash gummies landing
Speaker 5 (00:53:29) - Gummies. I'm buying, I'm buying it. Buy to the list of add it to list of domains with all the ideas I've had that I haven't acted on. Oh my
Speaker 1 (00:53:38) - Gosh, I got so many. I've been paying PhotoBiz for four websites and only two of them are active. So for, oh, for like three or four years. , here's, here's $300. Here you go. . Here's another $300.
Speaker 4 (00:53:54) - I haven't even activated it yet, but, oh, wow.
Speaker 1 (00:53:57) - Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:53:58) - Crazy. Cool.
Speaker 1 (00:54:00) - .
Speaker 4 (00:54:01) - So I got my floor in at the studio. Yes. The electricians are almost, are pretty much done. They just have to clean up. The plumbers are done. We have two bathrooms and a mechanical room. Mm-hmm. , um, painting is pretty much done, although I'm gonna now paint, uh, the gallery or two ends of my gallery wall accent walls instead of doing the mortar idea that I had, because it won't stick to the paint that was there from 50 years ago. So we go to option C or D. Um, so I'm gonna paint those black for the time being. I gotta build my display, um, walls. So I'm gonna build, uh, uh, image display with conduit. It's gonna be really cool. Um, ever since everything is kind of industrial. Anyhow, I'm gonna, uh, put vertical lines of conduit up through the wall and then, um, bring sleeves down with stop.
Speaker 5 (00:55:02) - Just attach it so you can Yep. Adjust it then. Yep.
Speaker 4 (00:55:04) - So every foot there's gonna be a vertical and then I'll have stops on each one of 'em and holders on the top. So it'd be like the old walker rods, remember from print. Yeah. But we're gonna do conduit instead. So I can probably do three row, well, in my case, probably two rows of large images tall, but because every foot is a new vertical, it, I can do horizontals and verticals whenever and just drop the, the top down, the top of them. Um, I just gotta find somebody to do the, um, the set screws, but I'm working on that. So, um, but I'm within about seven to 10 days from final inspection.
Speaker 5 (00:55:52) - Cool. Nice. Nice.
Speaker 1 (00:55:54) - Yeah. Yeah. Lot work and then
Speaker 4 (00:55:55) - Rolling. Lot of work. A lot of work. Lot of hours my niece heard.
Speaker 1 (00:55:58) - And then you can open the doors open and sit there and go.
Speaker 4 (00:56:02) - I actually, hired, I, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Dan always said, um, if you don't have time to do it yourself or it's not, you hire it, right? Mm-hmm. . Um, and I just, since I'm doing all the building and, uh, don't have time right now, and I don't know the area as well as people that are here. I hired a marketing firm and specifically they're, they're, uh, specific niches in social media marketing, but they do a lot of other types as well, and they're gonna help me with my direct mailing as well. Uh, but they're at Grand Rapids and they're going to, um, run a campaign for six months to get me up and running and Cool. Yeah. It cool. And the benefit to it is that they have a coming enough commercial clients, that's gonna keep me busy. That'll probably pay Oh. The amount of work that I'm gonna get commercial work from them is probably gonna pay for what I'm paying them to do. Perfect. The marketing. So it's gonna kind of be a wash,
Speaker 5 (00:57:12) - Like a trade. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:57:14) - It's always gonna be a trade. Yeah. Uh,
Speaker 5 (00:57:17) - That's fantastic.
Speaker 4 (00:57:18) - So it's gonna work out real well, but I just, you know, I just need a jumpstart and from people that know the area, um, that can, you know, take my product and bring it to the people that, to away that it's gonna draw them. And, and so I'm kind of excited about that, but scared to death is just at the same time. So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (00:57:41) - Cool.
Speaker 4 (00:57:42) - All part of the address.
Speaker 1 (00:57:43) - Right. That's awesome.
Speaker 5 (00:57:44) - Chips
Speaker 4 (00:57:45) - Are in, chips are in
Speaker 5 (00:57:47) - Cheers.
Speaker 4 (00:57:48) - Old fashioned in, I say
Speaker 1 (00:57:50) - In for a penny in for a pound.
Speaker 4 (00:57:51) - So Scott Detweiler, I just got to show his name out because Scott e at Texas Community, one of instructors this year at Texas School and Wisconsin guy, he had to instruct the bartender, or at least one bartender at the hotel to understand how to make an old fashioned .
Speaker 5 (00:58:11) - Oh,
Speaker 4 (00:58:13) - So
Speaker 1 (00:58:13) - He's kinda a mixologist. Yeah,
Speaker 4 (00:58:15) - He is. He, he actually is. And um, so he showed one bartender. So we had one bartender that knew how to make Wisconsin old fashions, although they didn't have any brandy, but still they knew how tomash things and everything else. So it was still an alright. Old fashioned, um, in Texas. But, uh, yeah, I mean, so you know what, whether we're instructing photography or mixology or, uh, how to cook, I mean, you get it all here in, in our podcast, you get the whole That's right. The whole gamut right here, right now. And a t-shirt if you order from, go from walleye
Speaker 1 (00:58:50) - And, and, and barking. I heard barking and that was cash.
Speaker 5 (00:58:53) - And, and you get, you get cash. He had to put his 2 cents in at the end there. Yeah, boy. That's right.
Speaker 4 (00:58:58) - I still,
Speaker 1 (00:58:59) - I thought I heard stuff yelling at him.
Speaker 4 (00:59:00) - that I heard that too.
Speaker 1 (00:59:05) - We don't have to pay her like any, like royalties or anything since
Speaker 5 (00:59:09) - Pay, or she makes a,
Speaker 1 (00:59:11) - She didn't have any scripted lines, so we're
Speaker 5 (00:59:12) - Okay. No, she didn't. So No, she's un uh uh, there is no, uh, no lines. So yeah,
Speaker 1 (00:59:22) - All is good. We're fine. Yeah. If you don't have any dialogue, you don't have to get paid that. That's how that works. It's like those, uh, oh, I can't remember. They're called NPCs and video games, but you know the ones that are just walking down the street and Yeah. Mm-hmm. . The Omnis. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Those guys, those one can run over at the car and then they'll be there again. Anyway. Hey, we're 15 seconds from 60 minutes, so I'm just saying. Oh, here. Go better. Go . All right, well, lots of fun. Till next time guys cheer. My wine is empty. Cheers to you. Yeah. Last call.
